Tree disposal in Toledo means getting rid of the logs, branches and brush piles left after you or a storm have done the cutting. If the pile is too big for the curb, a local tree crew can haul it off, chip it, or split the logs. Call (419) 820-4750 for a free quote.
What tree disposal covers
- Hauling away logs and trunk sections you cut yourself.
- Chipping brush piles on site and taking the chips (or leaving them for mulch).
- Cleaning up storm debris spread across the yard.
- Removing old firewood piles that have rotted or attracted pests.
- Picking up debris after you've had a tree taken down by someone who didn't haul.
If a crew is already trimming or removing a tree for you, disposal is usually part of that quote. This page is for when you just need the wood gone.
When the city can take it instead
Small loads may not need a crew at all. Since January 2026, Toledo residents can put up to five bulk items at the curb each week with regular trash. Each item must be under 40 pounds, and branches have to be tied in bundles no bigger than 3 by 4 feet. The city also opened the Clean Toledo Recycling Center at 3900 Creekside Ave. in June 2026, which takes yard waste (no grass clippings) from Toledo residents. Bring proof of Toledo residency.
Our full guide to getting rid of branches and yard waste in Toledo covers every option, including drop-off sites for suburbs.

When it makes sense to hire a crew
- The pile is more than a few bundles, and you'd be at the curb for weeks.
- Logs are too heavy to lift or too thick to bundle.
- You live outside Toledo and can't use city programs.
- You don't have a truck or trailer for a drop-off site.
- The debris is from a storm and you want it gone before it kills the grass.
What affects the price
- Volume. Many haulers price by the truckload or by the hour.
- Log size. Big trunk rounds need equipment to load.
- Chipping vs. hauling. Chipping on site can be cheaper than hauling whole branches.
- Where it sits. A pile at the curb is faster than debris spread across a backyard.
Haul-away prices vary too much to estimate well, so ask for a quote based on a photo of the pile. See the cost guide for context.
Local factors that change the job
| Local factor | What applies in Toledo | How it affects the job or price |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly bulk pickup | Up to five bulk items or bundles a week with regular trash, each under 40 pounds; branches tied in 3-by-4-foot bundles (City of Toledo Trash and Recycling). | Fine for a few bundles. A whole tree could take weeks at the curb. |
| Drop-off center | Clean Toledo Recycling Center, 3900 Creekside Ave., Tuesday through Saturday, Toledo residents only, no grass clippings (Clean Toledo Recycling Center). | If you have a truck or trailer, dropping off yourself is free. |
| Landfill | Hoffman Road Landfill does not accept yard waste, limbs, stumps, large logs or brush (Hoffman Road Landfill). | Don't haul brush there; you'll be turned away. |
| Fall leaves | 2026 leaf collection starts November 2 by ZIP code; pile leaves along the curb line, not with branches (City of Toledo Leaf Collection). | Keep branches in separate bundles so both get picked up. |
Don't move firewood far
The emerald ash borer was first found in Ohio near Toledo in 2003, likely spread in firewood. Other pests, like spotted lanternfly, can travel the same way. The safest rule is to burn firewood close to where it was cut.
Keep it out of the street
Don't push brush or logs into the road or storm drains. It can block drainage and cause flooding during heavy rain. Keep piles on your property or the tree lawn, and never block the sidewalk.
What to tell the provider
Describe the size of the pile (a pickup load? Two?), the thickest logs, where the debris is, and whether you'd like the chips left behind. A photo of the pile next to something for scale, like a car, is the quickest way to get an accurate number.
